Transport Fever 3 Campaign Mission 8: Final Countdown Guide
Plan the final campaign mission's rocket cargo chains, fuel additive change, budget goals, watch party, and astronaut transfer.
Transport Fever 3 campaign mission 8, Final Countdown, ends with a scheduled rocket launch in Japan. The challenge is to run several connected production chains before the launch window closes. For the higher star ratings, the amount of mission budget you request matters as much as finishing on time.
This guide follows the Final Countdown section of the detailed campaign walkthrough. It describes one documented route through the mission. Use the active in-game objectives to confirm each newly revealed task; some requirements appear only after the first networks are running.
Mission goals and star ratings
| Result | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Completion | Launch the rocket on schedule. |
| Two stars | Launch on schedule without repeatedly increasing the budget. |
| Three stars | Launch on schedule without increasing the budget. |
| Special Award | Organize the launch watch party. |
A budget increase can rescue a basic run, but it rules out the three-star condition in the cited walkthrough. Decide which result you want before buying large infrastructure. If you are chasing three stars, treat the starting budget as a hard limit and expand only after a route demonstrates a real need for more capacity.
Build backward from the rocket
The launch site needs 400 machines, 150 oxidizer, and 200 fuel. These are not independent deliveries. Oil feeds a refinery; the refinery supports both the fuel side and the chemical chain. The chemical plant supplies oxidizer and plastic. Plastic and steel feed the machine factory, which makes the final machine cargo.
Oil → refinery ───────────────→ fuel → launch site
└→ chemicals → chemical plant ─→ oxidizer → launch site
└→ plastic ─┐
Steel ────────────────────────────────────────────┴→ machine factory
→ machines → launch site
Read this as a planning map, then inspect each facility's actual inputs, outputs, and cargo handling in your game. One slow oil or chemical connection can delay more than one launch counter. Start with a working route for each required leg. Add vehicles where cargo is waiting, rather than buying the largest possible fleet everywhere.
Do not confuse an industry bottleneck with a transport bottleneck. If finished machines sit at the factory, move them faster. If steel and plastic are available but machines are produced too slowly, improve production instead. The walkthrough's late-game run needed worker transport at the machine factory; extra trucks alone could not make the factory produce more.
Protect the opening budget
The mission gives you enough to establish a network, but large early purchases leave little room for the mid-mission changes. Use existing infrastructure where it works and test a smaller service before upgrading every station or vehicle.
The cited run moved steel with smaller cargo aircraft and retained existing airports instead of paying for a large-airport rebuild. That is an example, not a mandatory route. Road, rail, air, and transfer choices should follow the actual distance, cargo compatibility, and available cash in your run. The three-star rule concerns budget increases, not a particular vehicle type.
Once the first deliveries earn money, revisit the queues. Add capacity to the leg that is holding up the next production stage. If a line serves only a completed launch requirement, reducing its fleet can free cash, but keep any upstream route still needed by another chain. For example, finishing the oxidizer counter does not automatically make the chemical network unnecessary if the machine factory still needs plastic.
Respond to the fuel additive change
An important mid-run event changes the fuel plan. The first kerosene delivered to the launch site cannot be used because an additive is missing. The walkthrough's required response is to return that unusable kerosene to the refinery, produce the additive at the chemical plant, deliver the additive to the refinery, and then resume usable fuel production.
Check vehicle cargo compatibility when adapting the route. A vehicle already assigned to another part of the chemical network may be reusable, but only if it can load the new cargo. Continuing to send the original unusable fuel without completing the additive step will not advance the launch requirement.
Because the chemical plant also contributes oxidizer and plastic, keep its inputs moving while you solve this event. An apparent fuel problem may be caused upstream by a stalled refinery or chemical delivery.
Bring workers to slow producers
Several industries can struggle to produce enough output before the deadline. The walkthrough specifically calls out worker connections for the chemical plant and, later, the machine factory. It points toward passenger service from northern settlements including Nishinoomote.
Add worker transport when the producer has materials but still turns them into output too slowly. If the producer's output is already accumulating, workers are not the immediate constraint; the next cargo leg needs attention. Make this distinction early, since a late worker service leaves less time for finished machines to reach the rocket.
Complete the watch party while cargo moves
The Special Award adds event work near the observation platform. When prompted, connect the Spaceport Hotel and the observation area for the Prime Minister's party. The platform also asks for 50 fish from the harbor.
In the documented run, fish traveled by boat into storage and then by road toward the event area. That transfer is one workable solution, not a required vehicle sequence. Build a cargo path that the game recognizes and verify that the fish reach the correct destination. The small quantity does not call for an oversized permanent freight system.
Set up the shuttle and fish service while the main production chains continue. Then return to the launch counters. The event routes are easy to watch, but a slow machine factory can still miss the launch window.
Finish the last cargo and move the crew
When one counter reaches its target, focus on whichever of machines, oxidizer, or fuel remains short. In the cited run, machines were last. If the factory has inputs but makes too few machines, improve production. If completed machines wait at the factory, shorten or increase the delivery leg. Avoid redesigning a finished part of the network during the final days.
Delivering all 400 machines, 150 oxidizer, and 200 fuel does not end the mission immediately. The final transport step is to bring the astronauts from the space center to the rocket. Keep that passenger connection available after the cargo counters fill; the countdown begins after the crew arrives and the final checks complete.
Quick checklist
- Set a one-, two-, or three-star budget target before building.
- Establish the oil, chemical, steel, and machine chains with working vehicles.
- Verify cargo appears at every handoff, then add capacity only at the slow leg.
- When kerosene is rejected, complete the additive return and refinery loop.
- Add worker service to producers that have inputs but lack output.
- Complete the hotel shuttle and 50-fish watch-party task if pursuing the Special Award.
- Fill all three rocket cargo counters and transport the astronauts to the rocket.
